Voting is considered to be the right of every citizen within the nation. For voting it needs Voter ID, Voter ID is also known as an EPIC ( Electronic Photo Identity Card). It is a photo identity card that is being issued by the Electronic Commission of India. This card is provided by them to the citizens of the nation because the card’s main purpose is to serve as an Identity proof for voters. This card is being provided because to prevent impersonation and also which also increase efficiency during the election time and fraud and fair democratic elections. The other name of this card is the Election card, voter’s card, or also voter ID card.

Voter ID card is considered to be a personal identification proof of the citizens of the nation with all the right details. It is itself issued by the Government of India. The structure of the Voter ID card is, the card contains a unique serial number, this serial number varies in person to person voter ID card. No one has the same serial number. And at the right top, a photograph of the Voter ID card is present, for identification purposes. There’s a hologram that contains respective state/ nation/ symbol. Along with also this the name of the cardholder, father’s name of the cardholder, and also Gender, also the date of birth, and also residential address containing the signature of the issuing authority are present on the left side of the voter ID Card.

To apply for a Voter ID card, there are 3 ways. To apply online, to apply semi-online, or by applying offline method. The below description will give you an over the idea of applying process.


Online way of Registration:-

Step 1:- The Candidate firstly needs to visit the official website of the NationalVoters Service Portal.

Step 2:- After visiting the site there on the homepage click on the option of the register new voter.

Step 3:- There on the screen “online form 6” will open and the candidate needs to fill the form with all the information in form 6

Step 4:- The applicant needs to upload all the documents with regard to the online registration form and also upload a photo with reference to voter ID Status.

Step 5:- Click on the submit option.

Semi-Online Registration:-

Step 1:- The Candidate firstly needs to visit the official website of the National Voters Service Portal.

Step 2:- Now the candidate needs to download the form, with the complete details.

Step 3:- Now after downloading the form, take a printout and fill form 6 with complete details of the candidate.

Step 4:- After filling up the details, Form 6 along with the photo and supporting documents at an Election Officer near you or either by post or in person.

Offline Mode:-

Step 1:- For offline mode, the candidate firstly needs to visit the nearest State Election Office and ask for form 6.

Step 2:- Now the candidate needs to fill form 6 with all the necessary details asked in the form and provide all the supporting documents, such as Identity proof, address proof, etc.

Step 3:- Now the applicant has to submit the completed form to the respective election office.

Step 4:- On verification of the form, the voter Id will be issued to the respective candidate.

*Eligibility Criteria for a Voter ID card:-

To be eligible for a Voter ID card the Candidate should have the following eligibility criteria:-

• The applicant should be a citizen of India.

• The applicant’s age must be 18 or more than that.

• The applicant must be free of criminal charges and also not financially bankrupt.

• The applicant must apply by visiting the site online or by filling the form at nearby government centers, in short, the Candidate must a registered person for voter ID.

• Applicants must ensure details such as spelling of their name, date of birth, address, and so on are correct.

• All information that is provided by the candidate must be true and legally approved in every aspect.

• After receiving the successful Voter ID, applicants must re-verify their documents and Voter ID to see if the information is correct.
