Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is for the national mission for financial inclusion to ensure access to financial services like savings and deposit account, credit, pension, insurance is provided in an affordable manner. Under the scheme, a basic saving bank account can be opened in any branch of the bank by a person not having any other bank account. The scheme was launched by our prime minister Narendra Modi in the year 2014 on independence day.
The scheme is run by the Ministry of Finance and over 15 million bank accounts were opened under this scheme on its inauguration day. The scheme is initiated to empower the rural sections of society in financial terms. The scheme will enable citizens of the country to be aware of the banking and saving options. The rural people will get equal opportunities under this scheme.
This initiative will enable us to save some money in bank accounts of rural people and keep it safe and secure. The social issues of India like lack of education, inequality, etc will get eradicated under this scheme. All the government benefits are provided under this scheme to the beneficiaries. More than 40 crore bank accounts have been opened in these six years of launching this scheme.

BENEFITS (PRADHAN MANTRI JAN DHAN YOJANA) प्रधानमंत्री जन धन योजना
It gives the right to open a bank account with minimum documentation.
A zero minimum balance is required if the customer wants to have some additional facilities like passbook, checkbook, etc.
Debit cards will also be provided to customers which will enable them to withdraw money from any ATM across the country.
An overdraft facility can be availed by customers.
A loan facility of rupees 5,000 can be availed after 6 months of opening a bank account.
The mobile banking system and the facility are also available to check their account’s balance on mobile through the bank’s app.

- First, visit the official website of the government.
- On the homepage of the website, click on the option to apply online.
- Then, a form will appear on the screen.
- Then, fill the form with all the necessary basic details like a name. address, Aadhaar card number, pan card number, occupation, etc.
- Details of the existing bank account of any family member.
- Then submit the form by uploading all the documents with it.
- The applicant can download the form in Hindi and English languages.
The scheme is initiated to ensure that every individual has a bank account of its own to have access to banking facilities and various financial subsidies that are passed by the government.
