National games comprise various disciplines in which sportsperson coming from different states of India participate in them and against each other. The country’s few national games were held in  North India which is Delhi, Lahore, Patiala, Allahabad, etc.

HISTORY OF THE NATIONAL GAMES

In the 1920s the Indian chapter of the Olympic movement emerged. The games were held after every two years and were renamed as national games during the 9th games in Bombay in the year 1940. The national games concept for promoting sports development and the Olympic movement in India.

The 35th national games were held at Trivandrum in the year 2012. 37TH national games were commenced in Uttarakhand state. 38th national games were held in January 2019 in Amravati, Andhra Pradesh.

The 39 th edition will be held in the year 2022 in Meghalaya which is located in the Northeastern state of India. The 2015 National games were organized in Trivandrum was associated with green protocols. It aimed at zero waste venues. To make the event disposable free there was a ban on the use of disposable water bottles and the event witnessed reusable tableware and stainless steel tumblers. These green practices stopped the generation of 120 metric tons of disposable wastes.

OFFICIAL NATIONAL GAME OF INDIA

Field Hockey is considered to be the official national game of India. It is due to the popularity of the game or on basis of historical connect. The objective of the game is to hit, dribble, and push the ball around the field to secure a goal in the opposite goal post. In order to qualify as a goal, the securing shot must be taken from within the striking circle. Two on-field umpires monitor the whole game to check any misconduct or rule-breaking during the match.

NATIONAL GAMES 2020

National games in the year 2020 were to be held in goa from 20th October to 4th November. In may 2020 it was announced that games have been canceled due to a pandemic and new dates are to be decided yet. These games will be the 36th edition and will host about 37 sporting disciples. The Participating teams are expected from all the 28 states and 8 union territories and a team representing armed forces were also included. The official logo and mascot were rubigula the flame throated bulbul.

NATIONAL GAMES 2022

National games of 2022 were to be held in Meghalaya as the 39th edition of the games. It is also the year when Meghalaya will celebrate its golden jubilee of statehood. But now Uttarakhand will host national games in the year 2022. The clouded leopard is the mascot of the national games 2022.

35 the national games concluded in the state of Kerala on February 14th in the year 2015. On the final day of the games, Kerala won five gold, silver medals, and four bronze medals and became the 35th national games winner state.
