The Kusum Yojana scheme has been launched for farmers by the Central government. Under the scheme, wasted land is being used and an increase in the income of the farmers. Decentralized solar energy and other renewable energy generation plants will be installed which will produce energy up to 2 Megawatt. It will enable savings in transmission system requirements. The government wants to implement the large scale solar projects to achieve its target of 100 gigawatts from solar energy by the 2022 year.
Through this scheme over 30 million agricultural pumps are installed in India. These pumps only consume 17 percent of electricity consumption. This will benefit farmers and will enable them to conserve electricity in the country. The problem of scarcity of water is also solved through this scheme. The scheme works towards only the welfare of the farmers by the installation of solar pumps at subsidized rates by the government.

Under this scheme, farmers can earn a good amount of money by selling solar power plants. The government is providing with 2.75 lakhs of pump set free to farmers. For the installation of equipment for solar power, farmers have to pay only 10%. The subsidy amount will be given by the central government to farmers and the amount will be directly transferred to the bank account. Plants for solar energy will be set up on wastelands. Banks will provide 30% loans to the farmers and the government will give at least 60% of the subsidy amount of solar pump to the farmers.
