KUSUM YOJANA: ONLINE REGISTRATION, OBJECTIVES, BENEFITS, & ELIGIBILITY

The Kusum Yojana scheme has been launched for farmers by the Central government. Under the scheme, wasted land is being used and an increase in the income of the farmers. KUSUM scheme Kisan Energy Security and Upliftment Maha Abhiyan. Solar pumps will be provided to 20 lakh farmers for producing solar energy on the wasteland and selling the surplus energy to the grid. Decentralized solar energy and other renewable energy generation plants will be installed which will produce energy up to 2 Megawatt. It will enable savings in transmission system requirements. The government wants to implement the large scale solar projects to achieve its target of 100 gigawatts from solar energy by the 2022 year.

Through this scheme over 30 million agricultural pumps are installed in India. These pumps only consume 17 percent of electricity consumption. This will benefit farmers and will enable them to conserve electricity in the country. The problem of scarcity of water is also solved through this scheme. The scheme works towards only the welfare of the farmers by the installation of solar pumps at subsidized rates by the government.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SCHEME [KUSUM YOJANA]

  3. The bank account number should be there of the applicant.
  4. Applicant should have their own land for farming.

Under this scheme, farmers can earn a good amount of money by selling solar power plants. The government is providing with 2.75 lakhs of pump set free to farmers. For the installation of equipment for solar power, farmers have to pay only 10%. The subsidy amount will be given by the central government to farmers and the amount will be directly transferred to the bank account. Plants for solar energy will be set up on wastelands. Banks will provide 30% loans to the farmers and the government will give at least 60% of the subsidy amount of solar pump to the farmers.

This scheme helps to eradicate the problem of water also. The solar pumps will help farmers to generate electricity on their own for the irrigation of their fields. Farmers can earn also by selling additional electricity. Small and marginal farmers are benefited from the scheme. The installation of the solar pump can be completed within 120 days of the time period. For installing the solar pump, consent has to be taken from Madhya Pradesh Energy Development Corporation Limited.
